Orchid # 4

If you've been following along with the orchid blooming schedule, then you know that the next orchid to bloom is Tway Blade, Liparis lilifolia. Another small orchid, but interesting nonetheless. The lower lip on this one is extreamly flattend. The color is (to my eye) a pale, translucent lavender

There are a couple of smaller specimens along the trail where you can see them and we will be happy to direct you there when you come out to the preserve.

As we finish out the spring wildflower season, we will be transitioning to longer lasting summer wildflowers and interesting understory shrubs. The next post will highlight a few of those. Stay tuned!
